The 82nd Golden Globes gave a sneak peek at some of the moment’s hottest colors, hairstyles and fashion sashaying into 2025.
Stars like Timothée Chalamet, Angelina Jolie, Pamela Anderson, Kylie Jenner, Selena Gomez, Naomi Watts, Kate Hudson and Nicole Kidman graced The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, CA on Sunday, January 5 to celebrate the year’s biggest winners in film and television. But for those in the beauty industry, hairstyles and makeup were the stars of the show.
Here, Happi breaks down the simplistic approach to the skin, hair and makeup products used to create the evening’s winning looks.
Demi Moore picked up her first major industry award in her 45-year acting career on Sunday night for best female actor in a Motion Picture Comedy or Musical for “The Substance.” Besides her strapless Armani gown, Moore’s signature black locks were kept flawless and timeless thanks to Moroccanoil Global Celebrity Stylist Ambassador Dimitris Giannetos.
“Demi is wearing a gold haute couture Armani dress, and I wanted to keep her hair classic Old Hollywood, but at the same time more ethereal and effortless!” he said.
After towel-drying Moore’s hair, Giannetos applied Moroccanoil Root Boost for added volume at the root. He then blow-dried her hair with a round brush and sprayed it with Moroccanoil Dry Texture Spray. Hair was curled in different directions using Moroccanoil Everlasting Curl Titanium Curling Iron. He then brushed through her hair and finished with Moroccanoil Luminous Hair Spray Strong to avoid flyways and secure the look through the night.
Fran Drescher went 1960s glam in makeup by Laura Geller Beauty to create an Italian screen goddess look.
Makeup artist Gregory Arlt prepped Drescher’s skin with Spackle Skin Perfecting Primer Hydrate to blur pores and fine lines while holding the Double Take Baked Full Coverage Foundation in Light in place to keep skin looking fresh for a long night out. After applying Baked Blurring + Setting Powder in light/medium, her cheeks were topped with Baked to Go Blush-N-Brighten Blush in “Tropic Hues” and Baked Natural Glow Highlighter in “French Vanilla” for a stunning glow.
To achieve a matte smoky eye, Drescher’s lids were prepped using the Spackle Waterproof Eyeshadow Primer to keep eyeshadows intact and not crease or smudge. The Ultimate Palette Essentials Kit – Neutrally Natural eyeshadow palette using all matte shades created depth and lift to the eye.
To complete the look, the Prep Stick Lip Scrub prepped and smoothed before applying the Modern Classic Waterproof Lip Liner in “Ritzy Red,” which was paired with Modern Classic Cream Lipstick in “Red Radiance.”
Monsters star Nicholas Alexander Chavez’s skin glowed on the red carpet, thanks to Thayers skincare.
“Thayers is a go-to in my kit for skin prep,” said Groomer Christine Nelli. “The key to the best red-carpet skin is clean base and hydrating products.”
Nelli began by washing Chavez’s face with face cleanser for a clean base. Next, she applied Thayers Rose Petal Facial Toner on clean skin.
“I love it because the alcohol-free facial toner that soothes and hydrates,” she noted. “Rose water also brings about a natural glow.”
She then applied face moisturizer with a brush to gently nourish the skin and some eye cream under eyes. Lastly, she sprayed Thayers Rose Petal Facial Mist to lock in the moisture.
Celebrity Hair Stylist Marc Mena styled the first openly trans star to be recognized in the best performance by a female actor in a musical or comedy category, Karla Sofía Gascón, using Great Lengths’ Essenza and Aria Tape-In Extensions. These new tape-In variants offer a lightweight, comfortable alternative for clients who desire length, volume and texture without compromising hair health. Made from 100% ethically sourced human hair, the extensions feature a paper-thin, durable adhesive strip that blends seamlessly with natural hair, ensuring a virtually invisible and long-lasting application.
To complement Gascón’s custom one-shoulder Saint Laurent dress, Mena started off by drying her hair from root to end with a large round ceramic brush. Next, he sectioned Gascón’s tresses and applied the new Great Lengths Essenza and Aria Tape-In Extensions to create contrast, body and fullness throughout the hair. Once the extensions were securely in place, he misted the ends with water before re-blowing the hair. This step seamlessly blended the extensions with Gascón’s natural hair for an effortlessly cohesive look. To create long-lasting volume and movement, Mena sectioned Gascón’s hair and styled it with a large curling iron, applying a light mist of setting spray to ensure hold and bounce creating a natural, glamorous texture. For the finishing touch, he created a sleek center part and tucked the hair back, allowing her shoulders and neckline to shine followed by a light finishing spray to finish off the style.
Model Ashley Graham walked the red carpet wearing a soft glam look created by celebrity makeup artist Ivan Nunez using Revlon products.
“Tonight, we went for a classic and sexy look,” said Nunez. “I wanted to complement her beautiful dress and effortless updo, so I gave her a subtle smokey eye and gorgeous bronzed skin.”
For Graham’s skin, Nunez used the new Glimmer Blush Drops; Illuminance Skin-Caring Foundation in Brulee; ColorStay Flex Wear Full Cover Concealer; ColorStay Pressed Powder; ColorStay Blot Matte Setting Powder; SkinLights Prismatic Bronzer in Sunlit Glow and Powder Blush in Pinkognito.
On her eyes, he used ColorStay Full Time Mascara in Black; ColorStay Micro Brow Pencil in Soft Brown; ColorStay Eyeliner in Black; ColorStay Liquid Liner in Blackest Black; and ColorStay Day to Night Eyeshadow Quad in Addictive.
On Graham’s lips, he used ColorStay Multi-Liner in Dynamic Doer; Super Lustrous Glass Shine Balm in Nude Illuminator; and Super Lustrous Lipstick in Bare It All.
Sofia Vergara’s glam was fresh faced with beautiful glam courtesy of Anastasia Beverly Hills. She was nominated for her role as Griselda in Griselda.
Vergara’s glam was prepped by Celebrity Makeup Artist Sabrina Bedrani exclusively using hero products from Anastasia Beverly Hills including the brand’s newest launches, Impeccable Second Skin Matte Foundation and Impeccable Setting Spray, launching on AnastasiaBeverlyHills.com on Jan. 9.
Bedrani applied the Anastasia Beverly Hills Impeccable Second Skin Matte Foundation in 3N. Next, she used Magic Touch Concealer to correct, brighten, blur and conceal while blending to a luminous second-skin finish. Bedrani used shade 7 to color correct under eyes and conceal.
Next, she applied Cream Bronzer in caramel to warm up the skin giving it a natural, sun-kissed effect. She applied it along Vergara’s cheek bone, hair and jawline. Next, she applied the Blurring Serum Blush in Guava on the apples of her cheeks and across the bridge of the nose.
The Iced Out Highlighter was applied on top of the cheek bone and along the nose.
For the eyes, she applied the Soft Glam Eyeshadow Palette, starting with Burnt Orange all over her lids as a base, then Sienna in the middle of the lip blending it outward to extend her eye in a cat eye shape and along the lower lash line.
Then, she applied the Waterproof Gel Liner in the waterline and followed by a thick coat of Lash Sculpt Mascara in Black to both the top and bottom lashes.
She defined her eyebrows using Brow Wiz in Soft Brown and set them with Brow Freeze Gel to ensure they would stay in place all night. She polished off the look by lining the lips with Lip Liner in Parchment and apply Soft Brown Lipstick.
To set the look, she used the new Impeccable Setting Spray to ensure an all-night glow.
